Nvivo Basic

Qualitative data such as interviews transcripts, surveys, video footage and literature are suitable for analyses in NVivo. The purpose of this course is to teach the participants how to prepare data for analysis in NVivo followed by an introduction to some of the preliminary analysis features in NVivo.

 

Learning objectives
Upon completion of the course it is expected that participants will be able to:
• plan and create a project
• perform basic coding in text documents
• perform simple queries

Target group
Researchers and PhD students. Max 12 participants.

Form and duration
Workshop, 3 hours, with presentations and practical exercises.
The participants can work with their own material or with exercise material provided at the course.

Estimated time spent
8 hours incl. preparation and written task.

ECTS
0.5 ECTS credits will be awarded for NVivo basic course combined with NVivo advanced course. To earn the ECTS credits, participants are asked to do the following between the courses and to present it at the advanced course.
• draft a node tree
• create an initial search

 

Teaching language
By default, the workshop is in English. However, it can be held in Danish if so wished by all participants. Group work can be in both English and Danish.

Nvivo Advanced

This course builds on the skills learnt in the Nvivo basic course and introduces more datatypes and more advanced analysis options. We recommend that participants have attended the basic courses or that they have equivalent knowledge of NVivo.

Learning objectives
Upon completion of the course it is expected that participants will be able to:
• perform coding in various data types (text, survey data, images, audio, video)
• look for patterns across data
• create simple visualizations

Target group
Researchers and PhD students. Max 12 participants.

Form and duration
Workshop, 3 hours.


Participant prerequisites
Participants at the advanced workshop must either have participated in the NVivo basic course or have knowledge corresponding to this. The participants can work with their own material or with exercise material provided at the course.
