Registration is easy, whether you are a student, staff, or a private user. In this guide, we describe how to get started as a user of the university library’s many resources.
As a student or part of the staff at Roskilde University, you log in using WAYF. It is important that you signup using WAYF on this link. Remember to register using your RUC-email and confirm your user by opening the link in the email you recieve afterwards.
We have attached a step by step guide on how to login when you have registered, below this.
As a private user, you can find information about the library’s materials and order physical books from home via the library catalogue at soeg.kb.dk.
To access the library’s e-resources, you must use the public PCs in the library building.
Both require you to register as a private borrower via MitID.
If you do not have a Danish CPR-number, it is possible to register and order materials to read in the reading room in the Black Diamond in Copenhagen. Read more about that here.
When you transfer from another university to Roskilde University, it affects which online materials you have access to.
To ensure this new access to Roskilde University Library’s resources, you need to create a new account at the library.
Use WAYF > Roskilde University. Remember to register a different email and borrower ID than those you have already used with us. If you wish to merge your two accounts later, we can assist with this.
You are welcome to contact Ask the library, which can help with changing or merging your accounts.
If you have previously chosen to log in automatically at another university, you need to delete your cookies. See the guide to deleting institution pre-selection on WAYF here.
Once you have registered as a user, it is possible to access all online materials through the library system at soeg.kb.dk. It is also possible to find physical materials that are available at Roskilde University Library or in one of the other collections of the Royal Danish Library. Read our libguide about the library catalogue for more information on searching.
If you need physical materials that are not available at Roskilde University Library, it is possible to order them. You can do this in the library catalogue by clicking the order button, after which you will be asked to choose a pickup location.
You will receive an email when your ordered material is ready for pickup. The email will also say where on the shelf with reservations, you can find the ordered material. Remember to check out the material at the self-service machine before taking it with you.
You have the option to choose one of the Royal Danish Library’s other locations as a pickup point. You can find a list of the different locations via this link. Please note that opening hours vary from place to place.
Return
When returning materials, you can also freely choose between any of the Royal Danish Library’s locations. You do not need to return your material to the same place you collected it from. Outside the library’s opening hours, you can return materials in the mailbox next to the main entrance. It will be returned the next working day.
The loan period for printed materials is usually 1 month unless otherwise stated. Loans can be renewed if the material is not already reserved by someone else. As long as it is not reserved, the material can be renewed multiple times, allowing you to borrow it for up to 6 months before it must be returned.
For RUC staff, the maximum loan period is 1 year. If the material is reserved by someone else, it cannot be renewed and will be recalled.
The loan period for interlibrary loans is usually the same as for the library’s own materials. In some cases, however, it may be shorter. This can be seen on the loan receipt and/or in your borrower status.
Read more about the loan rules at the Royal Danish Library here.
A fee is charged for the late return of borrowed materials. Fees can be paid via "My Account" in the library system or by cash payment at the Black Diamond. You can read more about fees at the Royal Danish Library here.
Once you have registered as a user, you can log in to your profile on soeg.kb.dk in the top right corner. If you click on your name in the top right corner again, you can view your account details. Here you can, among other things:
