About the library: Physical facilities and printing

Study spaces

WE HAVE DIFFERENT TYPES OF STUDY SPACES

At the library, you have plenty of options for where to sit and study. Throughout the library, there are various types of spaces you can choose from depending on your needs.

  • For group work, there are great areas on level 0 and level 1. We also have a project room (26.127) that you can book as a student or employee at RUC via your RUC email. See RUC’s guide to room booking on the intranet here.

  • For focused work we offer a quiet reading room on level 1. Additionally, we have quiet study spaces between the shelves on level 1, where we encourage you to work silently.

  • If you need to take a break, perhaps to read a good book, we have several sofas and a hammock where you are welcome to relax.

Print at the biblioteket

PRINTING FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF

As a staff member or student at RUC, you can use the library’s printers through RUC’s printing solution, Papercut.

You will find our printers in the copy room on Level 1 and on Level 2. On Level 1, it is also possible to use our book scanner. If you only need a single chapter from a book, it might be a good idea to scan the chapter so that others can access the book.

Please do remember to follow the rules regarding the amount you are allowed to copy.

PRINTING FOR OTHER USERS

As a private user or as a student or staff from Aarhus University or University of Copenhagen, you can print at Roskilde University Library. The printer is located on level 0 of the library. You must be registered as a user to use the printer. You can read more about printing here.

Use the library for more than studying

USE THE LIBRARY FOR MORE THAN STUDYING

It’s important to remember to take breaks. For that reason we have equipped the library with various ways to take a break from your studies or research.

  • Lie down in our hammock or the comfortable sofas.

  • Borrow a fiction book from “the round bookshelf

  • Knit or crochet by the sofas and help us create the world’s most colorful library blanket!

  • Continue working on the puzzle at the entrance.

Other services

In the reading room, it is possible to rent a locker for an extended period. Keys can be borrowed at the information desk during staffed opening hours.

It is possible to borrow chargers for the most common phone models, as well as Mac computers.

You are always welcome to enjoy your own food and drinks at the library. You can buy coffee, candy, and soda from the library’s vending machines at the entrance, and if you need more than that, we refer you to the university canteen in building 01.

Eduroam is the wireless network for students and staff across research and educational institutions. Log in with your username and password from your “home university” to access the wireless network at RUC.

If you do not have access to Eduroam, you can use the wireless network named RUC-hotspot.

The library provides a number of PCs for library users. They are located on Level 0. You must be registered as a user at the Royal Danish Library to log in and use them.

The login ID is the 8-10 digit number you use when borrowing from the self-service machine, followed by @kb.dk. The PIN is the same 4-digit code you use on the self-service machine.

A defibrillator is located outside to the left of the library’s main entrance. It is available 24/7.

There are two elevators in the building. On Level 1, one is located near the information desk, while the other is near the printer room. See a map of the building at the bottom of this page.

You can find restrooms on all three levels of the library. They are all located near the elevators. See a map of the building at the bottom of the page.
