Researchers at Roskilde University are entitled to various APC discounts and waivers due to the university library's and the Royal Library's national license consortium's license agreements with publishers.
That means:
· You do not have to pay, or you receive a discount on the Article Processing Charge (APC).
· The article can be published under one of the CC BY licenses.
· The article is immediately available as Open Access.
· The article can be archived in RUC's Pure without an embargo period.

Currently, there is an agreement for APC-free OA publication with the following publishers.
The Royal Danish Library has entered into an agreement with Association for Computing Machinery for at three year period covering 2024-2026. The agreement ensures that RUC-affiliated corresponding authors can publish Open Access in all of ACM's portfolio.
The agreement covers the article types: Research Articles, Review Articles, Conference papers and Proceeding papers, and there is no cap on the number of articles that can be published each year.

A three-year agreement has been concluded with Cambridge for the period from 2023-2025.
The agreement includes the option to publish without APC payment in a number of Cambridge's hybrid journals.

A four-year agreement has been concluded with Elsevier for the period from 2021-2024.
A NEW AGREEMENT with Elsevier is under negotiation. Therefore, no guarantees can be made for articles submitted in 2025, but it is expected that the previous agreement will apply during a so-called grace period.
The agreement includes the option to publish without APC payment in a number of Elsevier's hybrid journals.

A three-year agreement has been concluded with IOP in the period from 2023 -2025.
The agreement includes the option to publish without APC payment in almost all IOP Publishing journals.

A four-year agreement has been concluded with Springer for the period from march 2023-2026.
The agreement includes the option to publish without APC payment in a number of Springer's hybrid journals.

There is a cap on the annual number of publications in the Springer agreement.
Researchers who wish to publish with Springer and who are found under a grant that requires OA (e.g. EU) must be aware of this, as they risk publishing without OA-secured rights on VoR. When the cap is reached, unfortunately you will not be able to have your publishing costs covered via KB. Of course, you can also choose NOT to pay APC and obtain Open Access via the so-called green OA route.
