Open Access (English version): Welcome

Guide for Roskilde Universitet

This guide contains information about Open Access, especially for employees at Roskilde University. The guide has been created by Roskilde University Library. If you have questions or wish to reuse content from the site, please contact us at rucforsk@kb.dk

Types of Open Access

Denmark's National Strategy for Open Access focuses on two types of Open Access – the green and the golden
model.

  • Green Open Access means that the author can archive an article free of charge in an open archive. The publisher/journal determine whether it is the preprint, Accepted Manuscript (postprint) or Version of Record (VoR)r the publisher's version that can be archived.
  • Golden Open Access means that the Publisher must be paid to publish the article, so that it is made freely available to everyone.

Open Access at RUC

In the Publication Policy for Roskilde University it states, among other things:

"Roskilde University attempts to ensure a free and open access to the university’s research and promotes the publication of research results that can be open access."

But what is Open Access, why is it important and how does it affect the individual researcher?

In this LibGuide you can find information about Open Access types, how to fulfill Open Access, information about APC discount  and how to fulfill local RUC requirements in addition to the national Open Access requirements.

How can we help?

The library can help with the questions and issues that arise when you want to know more about, and act in relation to, Open Access.

Here are some examples:

  • Which rules for Open Access apply to the research grant received?
  • How do you approach contributions in monographs?
  • What information do you get via SHERPA/RoMEO - and what is it?
  • Guidance on the specific archiving in Pure.

We are also very happy to come out to institute or research group meetings and give presentations on Open Access.
