Publicationmetrics on forskning.ruc.dk

FOUR DIFFERENT METRICS

Starting Monday, December 1, 2025, Roskilde University’s Research Portal will display up to four different metrics for each publication.

The metrics aim to provide insight into how RUC’s research is being engaged with more broadly.

The four publication metrics are:

  1. Citations (from Scopus)
  2. Downloads (from Pure)
  3. PlumX widget
  4. Altmetric donut

Citations (Scopus)

Citations (Scopus)

If the publication is indexed in Scopus, the citation count from Scopus will appear on forskning.ruc.dk. If it is not indexed, the field will remain empty.

Downloads (Pure)

Downloads (Pure)

If a full-text file is attached to the publication in Pure (typically Open Access), the number of downloads of that file on forskning.ruc.dk will be counted. If no file is attached, the field will remain empty.

PlumX

PlumX

PlumX tracks a wide range of online interactions with research publications. In addition to traditional citations, PlumX also tracks policy- and patent citations, Wikipedia references, mentions in news articles and blogs, Facebook likes, and more.

If the publication has a DOI, PlumX data will appear on the research portal. By clicking the PlumX widget, you can view detailed information for the publication.

Altmetric

Altmetric

Like PlumX, Altmetric tracks online engagement with research publications. In addition to policy and patent citations, Wikipedia references, mentions in news articles and blogs, and Facebook likes, Altmetric also tracks mentions on X, Bluesky, and YouTube.

If the publication has a DOI, Altmetric data will appear on the research portal. Clicking the Altmetric donut reveals the full details for the publication.

The Altmetric donut also shows an Attention Score, which is a weighted score based on factors such as source type.

Special note on PlumX and Altmetric

PlumX and Altmetric are alternative metrics that track how research publications are mentioned or shared online - for example, on social media, blogs, videos, or news sites. They provide a broader picture of how research is engaged with outside academic circles.
